I have an interest in the time (Eames era, Danish, mid-century) furniture. Are there any "tricks of the trade to help me recognize the type of wood (walnut, Teak, Elm …)?

if first you have to look to the bare wood of each type. smell touch the top to see how much it weighs. then look at the bottom of the unfinished furniture and compare. it takes time to learn this but it is not difficult

How to paste a booty vintage glass lamp?

I bought a vintage glass booty online and came to light the bottom broken. I wonder what kind of glue to use for repair. glass is a little thick, so you need a good glue to fix it. Thanks!

I would recommend clear silicone adhesive E6000 or Goop The boats of the same company. E6000 flows very easily as Goop has more body. Both can be used to attach directly or contact adhesives where applicable, to touch the parts are separated, hold for 20 seconds and replace – will be very difficult to move when touched. Not require sanding, but if you have touched the edge of cleaning with rubbing alcohol or denatured high percentage will make for a better grip – see the sharpness of the edges. In either binding cases, let stand overnight, but you can use a knife blade to remove pressure out as soon as the piece is in place.

I can ask for a table sheet metal?

I have an old metal table outside I want to break tiles and make a tile design.

I am you, but could not with traditional media. If you are setting directly to the metal, which will use a construction adhesive (Liquid Nails) to set the tile and then use a silicone grout color. If you want or need to use the traditional configuration, there are some things to consider. Determine how thick the board is on the table now. If it is a thick lid does not flex, screw 1 / 4 "piece of plywood on top and set and grout from there. If it is thin and flexes a lot, make a 3 / 4 "wood top and go from there. Setting directly to the metal is not recommended as the grout or mortar mix does not adhere well to metal. The grout will crack and chip design.
