We all learned about renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy in school. However, we have never paid much attention to the rapid consumption of the sources renewable energy until recently. The world is faced with severe energy crisis now and none of us suffer more. Should we leave everything to governments, or we can do something to save energy? The answer is simple: we can.

Let's see how to save energy at home.

Computers: More often than not switch off our monitors even after we closed our computers. Keep the monitor and the computer off when not in use. Start practicing this even when at work. It will help save some more power for the world.

Bulbs: You must have seen compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs being advertised all the time. You must have even used at times. As energy saving measure, start using bulbs CFL much as possible. If you are thinking that they are more expensive than regular bulbs, the benefits of CFL bulbs will prove much more profitable in the long turn the amount of energy saved.

Air Conditioner: Set the temperature at the minimum or maximum best you are comfortable, depending of the season. Try not to look at a very high or very low temperatures. Setting the air conditioner at reasonable temperatures helps save a lot of energy.

Washer Machines: Do you use the washing machine as often as you want? Do you use the washing machine, even when there is not enough clothes to wash? Minimize the number of washes by washing full load of clothes every time.

Television: Remove the plug from your TV when not in use. This may not seem a great thing, but this small step will help save energy.

Geysers: Keep the geyser thermostat at the minimum heat. You no need to heat water at a temperature too high or too long.

Refrigerator: Bring hot food to room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator. You can also save energy by taking cold or frozen foods in the refrigerator much before the mealtime, thereby saving energy to heat it.

Car: For an air conditioner equipped car, pull up the windows of your car before turning the air conditioning.
