Light Shade

How does the shadow of light with a hole that is larger than device?
I bought a light shade of a ceiling light and when I tried to put it – The hole in the middle of the shadow was much larger than the device itself. The only way I could get him to stay until it was the part with the hole balance nearly half of the bulb. Surely that is not true? If I had a thin energy-saving light bulb just fall, it is only because I have a normal bulb just now that it is still active. Can anyone help me?
You need a reduction in the shadow of the ring. for example. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1x-Lampshade-Reducing-Ring-Convert-45mm-29mm-/380225773521 It should also be able to reach the market stalls / shops high street lighting.
