Lead Crystal

What is the difference between lead glass and regular glass?
I was searching online crystal ball, which was described as lead crystal. I have a few small quartz crystal balls, and I have heard of lead crystal glasses and stuff, so I wonder what does "lead crystal?" The one I saw online was clear
The term "lead crystal" is used to describe glass that contains a high proportion of lead oxide. Lead oxide is added to increase the refractive index of the glass which results in a glass that is very bright and clear. It does have some disadvantages however, as lead glass is softer than normal soda glass and scratches so easily enough, it also should never be put in a washing machine and chemicals used for cleaning the surface rust pretty quickly and make clouds .. It is a pity that the lead glass known as "crystal", which is very confusing because the glass is not a crystalline substance. Hope this helps a little.
