How can I connect a non HD digibox to a full HDTV?
Hi, I have an 40″ Samsung full HD tv, and I want to connect the non HD digibox to the HDTV. What do I need, to get a better picture quality, not necesarily HD? There is no option in getting an HD receiver.
I already connected the 3 RCA (red, yellow, white) AV cable, but the picture is poor.
Thank you
If your digi box has an hdmi out port then use that.
If not, then you are stuck with either RCA or SCART.
My 40″ Samsung does a pretty good at upscaling when connected to my DVD player via scart.
Also, try different picture options in the TV menu, for example, turn the sharpness down a bit, and turn the mpeg noise filter on (in advanced or picture menu).
Note, if you have a medium or poor signal, then the picture will look very poor on a larger screen, which was not very apparent on a smaller screen.
I personally watch non HD freeview through a BTVision box which has a hdmi connection. The image is acceptable.
You should also be sitting a fair distance from the TV, if you are too close (less than 3 metres) you will notice the artefacts. If you can’t sit that far away from the TV then you should have gone 32″ unless you had HD Freeview.
