Is it true that Disney has changed its Pirates of the Caribbean Ride to coincide with the film?

Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Disneyland has always been my favorite. It had been there since 1967, virtually unchanged! But I heard a rumor that after the popularity of film (which in reality does not rest on the trip at all, except for the fact that there were pirates and which were in the Caribbean), Disney has changed and the road to match the film. Is this true?? If yes, what exactly is this change? It looks like a very bad idea to me. The trip was perfect as it was. I hope this does not change too.
