My BMW 525i 1995 needs new engine block – how much is it worth?
I have to sell my 1995 BMW 525i, and I do not know where to find its value. The engine block broke out last week and I trust my mechanic quoted me $ 2K to repair, but suggested that a better / safer option is a new / rebuilt engine for $ 3K. KBB (if any of the motor) is $ 5500. I do not think it makes sense to throw $ 2K on a car worth is worth only $ 3K. You did not mention the mileage, so I'm assuming it's fairly high, since the engine died. Your car is 13-14 years of age. I do not think you should put money in repair, what can be sold. One idea is that part out. You can sell the parts on e-bay or Craig's List. Get rid of most parties, then call the junk yard and let them take the rest. You will probably be able to get around $ 1,000-1,500 for the parties. Good luck! Greg
