How can you burn a candle in a holder and still get the burning when you left off?

I do not have much luck with votives and anytime I burn them, the candle holder is placed in generally ruined forever, because you can never get all the old wax out. I just bought 2 stalk candle holder as part of my holiday decoration and to keep them clean, do not get ruined the first time I have to change the sails. I tried to add the water in the method below, but never works.

Actually make glass jar candles and reuse of the containers I use to make my personal candle. What I do is put a little water in a small saucepan, fill until it reaches about half the size of the candle holder. Then heat until the wax melts very well and pour excess wax out. Before the wax to dry in the spotlight, use a paper towel to dry the interior. Be sure to use oven mitts or something because the owner of the candle will be very hot.
