3D movies using Sony’s concept camera

What you see above is the future of “videography”. This is a concept video camera from Sony. But the interesting part is not that it shoot 3D video, it actually does that using a single lens! Every 3D video camera will come across today has 2 lenses. So how does this one do it using one? Simple. The camera splits a single beam into two and then offsets these images to produce the 3D effect, that too a pretty darn decent one. “The 3D effect is convincing enough, though objects in the foreground blurred pretty quickly when the focus was changed to the background.”

Although it is still a concept, this is definitely not a vaporware. A prototype was available for display at this year’s CEATEC.
